Our Wedding – July 18, 1997

July 18, 1997 – Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Both of us wanted a small simple wedding. Our plans to have a small civil ceremony, but it grew into something slightly bigger. Herman’s family could not make it at such short notice but sent us on a beautiful honeymoon (in Nassau Bahamas). I asked a good friend from Minneapolis, Kris Aikesn to be my matron of honor. Herman’s best friend from Norway made it to be his best man.

Getting Ready

I had something old, new, borrowed & blue. Herman’s mother send an beautiful (family) amethyst ring. My mother bought me a beautiful pearl necklace. Heather Dickson loan me the ear rings she wore at her wedding. I had one of those blue lacy thing’s on my legs (what do you call those things??) I had a bouquet of diamond alstamaria’s & daisies.

The Ceremony

It was touching and short – exactly the way we wanted it. Without a dress code, everyone wore a shade of blue. It’s the beginning of a long and wonderful life together.

At The Park

We walked accross the street to Vicker’s Park to take some photo’s. This was the one thing I would have done different, to hire a professional photographer. Several people had cameras, unfortunately in most of the pictures, everyone was looking at a different camera (LOL)! Our memories are in our hearts!

Reception at The Whitefox Inn

We had a very elegant dinner at the White Fox Inn. Herman’s family sent this huge bouquet of Flowers which we thought we’d use for a table centerpiece, unfortunatley it was so big that we had to place it on a table behind the main table! Our cake was a strawberry shortcake covered in marsipan.

The BBQ at The Kilgours

Unfortunately, we did not have any photographs to scan for this day. Simply, we were having so much fun we forgot to take photographs! We had about 30+ people at the Kilgours, on Lake Superior at Cloud Bay just outside of Thunder Bay host a beautiful BBQ the next day. It was beautifully warm and really casual and relaxing!

Honeymoon in Nassau & Toronto/Ottawa

The Monday after the wedding we visited the travel agent and chose a resort called Radisson Cable Beach Resort in Nassau in the Bahamas. We left the following weekend…It was a beautiful restful week.

On the layover in Toronto, we visited a car dealership and picked up the car we needed for Thunder Bay, so on the way back, we bypassed our flight toured Toronto and visited my sister who lived in Ottawa!
